William Fletcher Primary School serves the villages of Yarnton and Begbroke
The school governors in agreement with the Local Education Authority has set the admission number at 30, which means that the school can admit up to 30 children in each year group. Children who live in the catchment area are allocated places until the 30 places in each year group are filled. If there are not enough children living in the catchment area to fill all the places, children from outside the catchment area can be allocated a place.
Yarnton is an expanding village, to meet the need for additional school places, the school has undergone an expansion programme with the extension of the Foundation stage classroom and an additional key stage one class. This has meant that from September 2013 we have been able to admit up to 45 children into our Foundation stage class. We currently have 45 children in our Foundation stage class, our year 1 and year 2 cohorts. By 2019 we will be able to take 45 children into each year group.
When a year group is full, parents can appeal to the Local Education Authority. The Authority can direct the school to exceed its admission number and allocate a place. Before doing this, the Authority will consult with the Headteacher and governors to assess the impact on the school of exceeding the admission number, the needs of the child and whether the child could be accommodated at another school. Any parent wishing to make an appeal should contact the school office for information on how to proceed.
Parents who wish to transfer their child to William Fletcher School from another school should contact the school's admission team at Oxfordshire County Council on the following number: 01865 815175
