On Thursday 9th March, Kingfisher class visited the story museum in Oxford. During our visit we listened to stories and learned to tell the story of the Monkey and the Crocodile. We then explored the story rooms which were all based on well known stories. We tried out lots of different activities including making cat shadows on the wall, listening to sounds and stories such as the jungle book using listening tubes and playing a story game in the vole's house. We then had a chance to dress up as a character and make up a sentence about who we were before walking up a red carpet and sitting in a special chair. Finally we all came together on the giant bed in the 'Bedtime room' and had our photograph taken. It really was a busy and fun filled morning.
The children in our key stage 1 classes had a visit from the Kidlington Fire Service on 12th April. The fire service brought their fire engine and lots of equipment to show the children. They talked to the children about keeping themselves safe and what to do if they are ever involved in a fire incident. The clear message to the children was "Get out, stay out, call the fire brigade". The children also learned about the need for fire alarms and regular testing.
