At William Fletcher, Physical Education plays an important role in promoting healthy, active lifestyles and supporting children’s physical, social and emotional development.  Through a broad and engaging curriculum, pupils develop fundamental movement skills, sporting skills and sportsmanship, while fostering a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity.  Our well-equipped hall provides opportunities for gymnastics and dance whilst our extensive field enables children to participate in a range of games and athletics activities.  Swimming lessons take place at the indoor heated pool in Gosford, Kidlington.   We strive to ensure that all pupils experience success, challenge and enjoyment in PE, while developing the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to lead healthy and active lives.

Sporting Opportunities and Competition

We recognise the value of giving children opportunities to participate in sport beyond their PE lessons.  Throughout the year, pupils have the chance to take part in different sporting events and competitions, helping them to develop confidence, teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship.  We also enrich our PE provision through visits, workshops and opportunities to learn from coaches, athletes and other sporting professionals. Whatever the activity, our aim is to inspire a love of physical activity and encourage every child to achieve their personal best.
