Physical Education
Physical Education
Physical Education (P.E.) plays a unique and vital contribution promoting health and physical development. Our hall is well equipped for gymnastics and dance, while for swimming we use the indoor heated pool at Gosford, Kidlington. Using our field we promote team games and athletics and inter-school competition as sources of enjoyment, and promoting co-operation and positive competition. The P.E curriculum aims to improve the quality of life of all young people, providing P.E. and sporting opportunities to develop skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for a healthy and active lifestyle.
Competitions
William Fletcher we recognise the importance of providing our children with the opportunity to take part in competitive sports. Throughout the school year we attend many competitions through the West Oxfordshire School Sport partnership including; football, netball, athletics and rugby. During these competitions we take full advantage of supporting the children’s passion for sport by involving as many children as possible in A, B and C teams. Our main philosophy is always sportsmanship and we celebrate our children’s positive attitudes, resilience and encouragement towards others.
Sainsbury’s School Games
The Sainsbury’s School Games is a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire millions of young people across the country to take part in more competitive school sport.
The Games are made up of four levels of activity: competition in schools, between schools, at county/area level and a national finals event:
– Level 1: sporting competition for all students in school through intra-school competition.
– Level 2: individuals and teams are selected to represent their schools in local inter-school competitions.
– Level 3: the county/area will stage multi-sport Sainsbury’s Schools Games festivals as a culmination of year-round school sport competition.
– Level 4: the Sainsbury’s School Games finals. A national multi-sport event where the most talented young people in the UK will be selected to compete in our sporting venues.
