How do I get a place for my child?

We welcome enquiries from parents and carers of children of any age and are delighted to show you around our school to help you choose which school is right for your child.

Procedures for applications can be found at: https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/admissions

Parents and Carers can fill in an application listing up to 3 schools in preference order. The Local Authority will then offer you schools considering your choices and a number of other factors including where you live or whether your child has siblings at the school.

At what age can my child start school?

You will be offered a full-time place for your child for the September after their 4th birthday. Places are allocated at our school in accordance with the Oxfordshire Local Authority Admission Policy and full details can be found on the Oxfordshire County Council website at www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/startingschool

If you live in our catchment area and wish your child to attend William Fletcher Primary School, you will have priority and will be offered a place if there is a space.

If you live outside the catchment area you will be offered a place if one is available. The Local Authority considers all applications and will contact you if your child cannot attend the school of your choice. Further guidance about the Local Authority Admissions Policy is available in the booklet “Oxfordshire Schools Admissions and Transfers’, which is published annually by the Local Authority.

Applications for a Reception place in September 2023 opens in November 2022. Parents find out in April if their application to William Fletcher has been successful.
